The holy man

As started during the tell of this story, Daren was living a double life. In one hand he was this sexual predator, who took advantage of women to have selfish sexual pleasure, not worrying about the damage he was causing to his victims, but in the other hand, he was this sweet guy, who was appreciated in his community, among his neighbors. People saw him as an example of good behavior and genteelness. 
Daren was an active member of his Church. At the age of 18, Daren was already giving small talks about the Bible. At the age of 21, he was giving speeches in his church and in churches around. He was deeply appreciated by the members of his church but also by the member of the churches around. During this time, though, he was living part of his life 180º contrary of what he was preaching - he was immoral, drunken, using abusive language and worst of all, he was pretending to be a holy person, when he was in fact living according to the flash.

During this period he met Michele and started this romantic relation with her. Daren would lie to his parents, saying that he had to go to some kind of training related to his work, to go on weekends with Michele. He loved her.
During this period, Daren was invited to attend a training from his Church in Lisbon. He was eager to go. It was something he was waiting for a long time. With this we can see how out of reality Daren was. He truly believed that he could live this double life. In his mind, his life at the Church was the real life and the other one, where he was in love with Michele and having a fleshly behavior was...like a dream.

After spending tow month in the course, Daren was decided to stop living that double life. He wanted to live the "real life", the life in his church, following God´s standards. 
So while he was still in the training he did one of the most difficult things in his life - he broke up with Michele.
They met at Michele´s apartment. She had prepared dinner and bought a bottle of red wine, one that Daren liked. They had dinner, but Daren didn´t want to have wine. He was very quiet during all  the time. After dinner, he helped Michele to take the dishes to the kitchen and there he told her that they couldn´t continue together.
Michele was in choke, although she didn´t show it. Also her had fallen in love for Daren. Now daren was crying. he could barely speak. The tiers were falling down his face. He had to sit down. He apologized her and explained why he was doing that, although it was painful to him. Michele comforted him telling him that it was Ok and they would always be friends...of course it didn´t worked that way.

Daren had started a new stage in his life. He was decided to "behave" in harmony to what he believed to be the correct way of living. He wanted to please God. And he was making plans to expend his work in the church. 
But Daren was not dealing with the problem of having a double life. He was just running away from that problem, hopping that the problem didn´t catch him again. But as the saying says - you can run, but you can´t hide. 
Daren would prove the saying to be true and worst of all, he would hurt the only person who could really make him happy.

From the time he started to study the Bible along with his parents, Daren truly changed his personality and behavior. He became a better son, a better person. But his conscience kept accusing him for what he had done, specially regarding what had happened with the nanny and the German girl. Now, at the age of 9, his parents where pondering returning to Portugal. And it indeed happened. When Daren was 10 years old, his parents returned to Portugal, to the same town they used to live before going to Switzerland. Daren used to fantasizes how things would be, how he would feel relief to run away from that place, where so many bad thing had happened, and have a fresh start, a clean page, a new beginning. This was what happened in fact for a while. Daren was living a devoted life to godly principles although he was very young. Daren´s parents

It´s worthy to get to know Daren´s parents better to understand Daren himself. Daren´s father was a good man. He was from a small village in the interior of Portugal. he was the firstborn of tow brothers. When he was six years old he started to work, as it was the use among the people in Portugal at that time. He started to work whit Daren´s grandfather, shepherding sheep and goats. Its was a hard job for a man to do, imagine for a six year old boy. He often had no shoes and many times would sleep above a creek white a stone as pillow. This last until he was twelve years old. At that he went to work in a restaurant in the town nearby. But the work wasn´t easier at all. long hours of work, often form 6 am to 12 pm. many time with no resting day. All his money he made he gave it to his parents. But being in the town, knowing other people, people with more secular education, with minds more open, made him also open more his mind.
